HAWTHORNE, N.Y. — it may be getting cold outside but inside Three Little Pigs of Hawthorne , it’s smoking hot.
The restaurant, open since July 25, 2016, specializes in southern barbecue. Everything is dry rubbed using owner Marc Mazzarulli’s recipes and smoked in the on site smoker. For those who still like sauce on their meats, Mazzarulli offers four homemade sauces, a traditional BBQ, Alabama, North Carolina, and a Texas version.
Co-Owner Georgietta Jankowski said they opened in Hawthorne because it’s a great town. “Marc used to live off of Bear ridge in Pleasantville and had the best of both worlds, North Castle and Mount Pleasant. He started his career in 1992 at the Pleasantville Country Club before eventually taking it over and then, 1998, opening Opus 465 in Armonk, where I came to work for him in 2004.
“We’ve opened many different catering companies and delivery services, and this is where the love of BBQ came from.”
This restaurant is not to be confused with the Three Little Pigs of Armonk delivery location; each has different menus, with Armonk being more of a northern BBQ, meaning everything has sauce on it, while Hawthorne is dry-rub only.
Jankowski stressed that the Hawthorne restaurant is very casual with picnic tables, sauces on tables, paper towels for napkins, and beer and wine on tap.
All meats can be ordered by the quarter pound, half pound and so on. Customers will also find specialty sandwiches and smoked wings. And, of course, the eatery does plenty of catering.
